The Challenge
We were tasked with developing the next generation of the Buster L Series, introducing a modern and timeless design language rooted in Buster’s new design DNA.
The challenge was to retain the existing weight, price and performance targets while giving the boats a more robust, functional and tool-like character. A key part of the development was creating a more ergonomic and modular console for the Lx and L2, designed to improve usability while allowing the same design approach to evolve across future models.
The solution also needed to support Buster’s manufacturing approach, creating greater consistency across the range while reducing complexity and maintaining flexibility for future development.
Stance
We explored the hull and gunwale through a series of silhouette studies, refining the boat’s stance, proportions and overall character. The aim was to create a more confident and purposeful presence while keeping the proportions practical and true to Buster’s identity.
The Console
The console became one of the key opportunities to improve the everyday experience while establishing a design element that could carry across the L Series and future models.
We developed a more ergonomic and modular architecture, considering the relationship between the driver, controls, storage and surrounding deck space. The result is a cleaner, more purposeful console that improves usability while giving the range a stronger visual identity.
A modular console was developed to serve both the Lx and L2, keeping manufacturing complexity and cost low while creating a consistent design identity across the range. The solution works seamlessly across both configurations without compromising usability, ergonomics or functionality.

A Solution That Travels
Originally developed for the Buster MCC, the console was designed with enough flexibility to evolve beyond its first application. Its ergonomic architecture and distinctive design language were adapted for the L Series, creating a consistent connection across the range while reducing manufacturing complexity and cost.
The shared console architecture also allows Buster to offer more configuration options while keeping production within the same in-house manufacturing system.
