Concept
Covestro needed a comprehensive digital demonstrator to showcase their wide range of manufacturing opportunities and finishing methods within a single case study. Tasked with an exceptionally tight timeframe, we rapidly executed a high-fidelity electric lawnmower concept that serves as a professional visual tool for designers and engineers. Through lifelike environmental renders and detailed exploded views, the 3D model allows viewers to easily explore the full spectrum of Covestro’s material solutions from tough, impact-resistant structural housings to seamless optical sensor covers.
Initial Research & Packaging
A believable concept requires a realistic foundation. The project started with a rapid benchmarking phase to analyze the internal packaging of existing lawnmowers. We translated this data into a preliminary 3D CAD model to map out the mechanical constraints before beginning surface development. This approach ensured that the sculptural forms we designed were structurally viable and highly realistic.
Design
Drawing direct inspiration from our previous work on the Covestro EV Charger, we applied a distinctly organic and sculptural design DNA to the lawnmower. This fluid geometry was intentionally chosen to push the limits of surface complexity and highlight formability of Covestro’s polymers. By treating the machine less like a traditional yard tool and more like a piece of premium electrified tech, the design elegantly merges heavy-duty functionality with a pristine, modern aesthetic.
